Course Syllabus

 

  • Understand the role and responsibilities of the first aider
  • Assessing the situation and acting safely, effectively and promptly in an emergency
  • Dealing with an unconscious casualty
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
  • Legislation COSHH Risk Assessment and safe systems of work
  • Hydrofluoric Acid uses Hydrofluoric Acid exposure
  • Treatment of Hydrofluoric Acid exposure
  • Oxygen therapy
Assessment and Qualifications

Continuous assessment by the Trainer. Successful learners will receive a certificate of attendance which is valid for one year.

Other Relevant Information

It is beneficial for learners to hold at least basic training in first aid prior to attending the course. The course can be extended to 6 hours if basic first aid is also required.

Learners must be physically able to carry out procedures required to meet Resuscitation Council UK assessment criteria. Learners are recommended to attend a 3.5 hour course after the one year period to keep skills up to date

Learners are recommended to keep skills up to date by attending a refresher course.
